N.K. Jemisin reshaped modern epic fantasy with the Broken Earth trilogy, becoming the first author to win the Hugo Award for Best Novel three years running, once for each book. A former counseling psychologist, she writes fantasy and science fiction that confront oppression and power head-on, and received a MacArthur 'genius' grant in 2020.
