Rachel Carson

Rachel Carson was a marine biologist and writer whose 1962 book Silent Spring exposed the environmental devastation caused by pesticides and is widely credited with launching the modern environmental movement. Despite fierce attacks from the chemical industry, her work led to the ban of DDT and the creation of the EPA.
