Stephen Chbosky is an American writer and filmmaker whose 1999 epistolary novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower became a defining coming-of-age book for a generation and a frequently challenged one for its frank treatment of trauma and sexuality. He wrote and directed the acclaimed 2012 film adaptation.
