Barbara Kingsolver trained as a biologist, and her fiction carries a naturalist's eye and an activist's conscience. The Poisonwood Bible was an Oprah pick and Pulitzer finalist; in 2023 Demon Copperhead won her the Pulitzer Prize, making her one of the few writers to win Britain's Women's Prize twice.
