Cormac McCarthy
American · b. 1933
Cormac McCarthy wrote in borrowed rooms and motel silence for decades — Blood Meridian, the Border Trilogy, No Country for Old Men — refusing interviews, punctuation, and compromise in equal measure. The Road, written for his young son, won the 2007 Pulitzer and made the bleakest writer in American letters, improbably, an Oprah pick.
