
Yaa Gyasi

Yaa Gyasi was born in Ghana and raised in Alabama, and wrote her acclaimed debut Homegoing, tracing eight generations descended from two half-sisters, in her twenties after a research trip to the Cape Coast Castle. It won the National Book Critics Circle's John Leonard Prize and the PEN/Hemingway Award for a first book.
