The story and the impact
Carmine Gallo worked as a television journalist and anchor before becoming a communication coach to executives and a columnist on public speaking. His first widely read book, The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs, analysed how one presenter built a talk.
Talk Like TED, published in 2014, widened the lens to hundreds of TED talks and interviews with their speakers and with neuroscientists, and reduced the findings to nine habits. He followed it with The Storyteller's Secret and Five Stars, on story and on persuasion as the skills that machines will not replace.
The signature
Gallo writes as a coach, with the example first and the rule second, and his admiration for his subjects is unguarded; the transferable part is the order, the count, the length and the rehearsal.
