What it actually means
An idea that cannot be communicated has, for practical purposes, not been had. Gallo's point is that in work that runs on ideas, the person who can make one land in eighteen minutes, with a story first and three things to remember, has a form of wealth that the person with the better idea and no way to say it does not. The sentence justifies the effort the book asks for: rehearsal, structure, the opening story.
