Influence System
An influence system is the one-page code a persuader keeps: the seven levers in their honest version, the prepared lines, the three refusals, and the ethics test at the top. It turns knowledge of the levers into a practice that stays honest under pressure.
Knowing the levers is now common; what separates a trusted persuader from a manipulator is a system applied before each real ask. The page has four parts. The levers: for each of reciprocity, liking, commitment, social proof, authority, scarcity and unity, the true version you can use in your own work, in one line, with a real example. The lines: the opening question that channels attention honestly, the label for the feeling in the room, the concession you can make first, the story and the number that carries your idea. The refusals: the three levers most often pulled on you, each with the question you will ask when you feel it — did they choose, is it real, would I want it yesterday. And the test at the top, read before anything else: is it true, is it natural, is it wise. The system works the way a habit system works: it removes decisions from the moment, so that when the next ask matters more than your principles, the principles have already been decided. It is maintained by use — three real asks prepared on the page and recorded afterwards, whatever the outcome — and reviewed when an ask fails, to find which line failed.
A real-life example
A founder in Istanbul pitching after a lost deal keeps her influence code in her bag: checkable case studies, an introduction by a mutual contact, the real capacity for one project this quarter, an opening question about what the client wished had gone differently, and her own proposal's risk named first. She does not read it in the room; by then she does not need to.
